Learning in your home changes everything.

Classroom instruction moves at the pace of the class. One-on-one academic support moves at the pace of your child. That difference โ€” the freedom to slow down on what is hard, accelerate what comes naturally, and build on what your child actually knows โ€” is what makes home-based tutoring so effective.

My Homeroom educators are not just subject experts. They are matched to your child's learning style, personality, and goals. A child who struggles to focus in a classroom often thrives in a familiar, calm, one-on-one environment with someone who has been chosen specifically for them.

Every academic support engagement begins with a clear understanding of where your child is and where you want them to go โ€” and a plan for getting there.

Upper Elementary
Grades 3 โ€” 5
Primary Focus
Reading comprehension and fluency
Multiplication, division, and fractions
Paragraph and essay writing
Science and social studies reinforcement
Organization and homework habits
This is often when academic gaps first appear. Early intervention at Grades 3โ€“5 prevents compounding challenges in middle school.
Middle School
Grades 6 โ€” 8
Primary Focus
Pre-Algebra and Algebra I
Essay writing and literary analysis
Study skills and note-taking strategies
Test preparation and confidence building
Executive function and time management
Middle school is a pivotal time. The habits built here carry through high school. Our educators understand the social and academic pressures of this stage.
High School
Grades 9 โ€” 12
Primary Focus
Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus
AP and Honors course support
College essay writing and guidance
SAT and ACT preparation
Subject-specific deep tutoring
High school students benefit most from educators who are genuine subject experts. We match accordingly โ€” an AP Biology student gets a science-focused educator, not a generalist.

All Grade Levels
Specialized Support
Dyslexia and structured literacy approaches
ADHD-friendly session structures
Dyscalculia and math anxiety support
IEP and 504 plan alignment
Processing and retention strategies
We take care during intake to understand any diagnosed or suspected learning differences so we can match families with educators who have relevant specialized experience.
Not Sure Where to Start?
We will help you figure it out

Many families come to us knowing their child needs support but unsure exactly where the gaps are. That is completely fine. Our intake process is designed to surface the right information so we can find the right match.

What a real session looks like

Grade 2 ยท Reading
Building Fluency Through Story

The educator begins with a brief phonics warm-up using flashcards, then reads aloud with the child from a leveled book โ€” pausing to ask prediction and comprehension questions. The session closes with the child writing two sentences about what happened in the story. The educator notes new words for the next session's vocabulary review.

Duration: 60 minutes
Materials: Leveled reader, flashcards, notebook
Goal: Decoding fluency and comprehension
Grade 5 ยท Mathematics
Fractions โ€” Making the Abstract Concrete

The educator starts by reviewing last session's fraction work using a quick set of problems. Then introduces fraction division using a pizza model โ€” cutting paper circles to show what dividing by a fraction actually means. The child works five practice problems while the educator observes and asks "why" questions to reinforce understanding, not just procedure.

Duration: 60 minutes
Materials: Paper, scissors, practice sheet
Goal: Conceptual understanding of fraction division
Grade 8 ยท Writing
From Brainstorm to Body Paragraph

Using a passage the student has already read in school, the educator walks through how to identify a strong claim, find textual evidence, and explain how the evidence supports the claim. The student drafts one complete body paragraph using the CEE framework (Claim, Evidence, Explanation). The educator reviews for logic and structure โ€” not grammar โ€” in the first draft.

Duration: 75 minutes
Materials: Source text, notebook or laptop
Goal: Evidence-based argumentative writing
Grade 11 ยท SAT Prep
Reading Comprehension Strategy Session

The educator starts with a timed 15-minute SAT reading passage under real test conditions. After reviewing answers together, they work on the student's specific pattern of errors โ€” often inference questions or vocabulary in context. The last 20 minutes covers one math concept the student flagged from a previous practice test. Session ends with a homework assignment of one full reading section.

Duration: 90 minutes
Materials: SAT prep book or College Board materials
Goal: Score improvement through targeted strategy
