My Homeroom is a Charlotte, NC-based service connecting families with thoughtful, vetted home-based educators. We are building something different — and we want the right people with us from the start.
My Homeroom is a Charlotte, NC-based educational matching service. We personally connect families with vetted home-based educators for tutoring, homeschool guidance, and enrichment — right in the family's home.
We are not a tutoring center. We are not a staffing agency. We are a curated matchmaking service that believes the best learning happens when the right person meets the right child in the right environment.
My Homeroom was founded with a simple belief: families deserve more than a directory of strangers to scroll through, and educators deserve more than a gig platform that treats them as interchangeable. We are building something more personal than both.
We are currently building our educator network in Charlotte and are accepting applications from qualified, caring individuals who want to do meaningful work on a flexible schedule.
This is not classroom teaching. It is one-on-one, relationship-driven work in a family's home — at a pace and schedule that works for your life.
All sessions take place in the family's home in the Charlotte area. You bring your expertise — the family provides the space. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes.
You set your availability and My Homeroom only matches you with families whose schedules align. You are never assigned to a family — you agree to every match before it begins.
No cold outreach. No competing for jobs. My Homeroom personally introduces you to families we believe are a strong fit. You meet the family, decide if it feels right, and begin.
Families pay through the My Homeroom platform. Your 80% is transferred to you within five business days of each confirmed session. No chasing invoices or handling transactions.
My Homeroom provides model lesson plan frameworks but you are the educator. You plan sessions based on the child's needs, the family's goals, and your professional judgment.
Educators who join My Homeroom early will have priority placement as our family network grows. The best educators in our network will receive more matches, more visibility, and preferred status.
My Homeroom operates on a simple, transparent commission model. You set your hourly rate. Families pay that rate through our platform. You keep 80% of every session — we retain 20% as our service fee.
There are no listing fees, no subscription costs, and no hidden deductions. You only pay the 20% when you earn.

We take our vetting process seriously because the families who trust us with their children deserve to know that every educator in our network has been carefully reviewed. Here is exactly what the process involves.
We review your full application including your educational background, subject expertise, grade level experience, teaching or tutoring history, and availability. Every application is read personally by our founder — not filtered by an algorithm.
We verify the identity of every applicant before approval. This is a standard step that protects both families and educators and confirms you are who you say you are.
We require at least one professional or family reference — someone who can speak to your character, your work with children, and your reliability as an educator. We reach out directly and ask specific questions.
Every approved educator has a direct 20-minute conversation with our founder before being matched with any family. We want to know the person, not just the resume — your teaching philosophy, how you handle challenges, and what kind of families you work best with.
Once you complete all four steps, you receive the My Homeroom Verified designation and become eligible to be matched with families. This badge signals to every family that you have been personally reviewed and approved.
My Homeroom Verified EducatorYou do not need a teaching license to apply. What matters most is your genuine experience working with children, your subject knowledge, and your ability to build a real relationship with a family.
Teachers who want meaningful supplemental work outside of the classroom on a flexible schedule.
Tutors and specialists who have a proven track record of working directly with children and families.
Graduate students in education, the sciences, arts, or other fields who bring fresh knowledge and genuine passion for working with young learners.
Educators with direct experience supporting homeschool families — whether as a co-op teacher, curriculum consultant, or home-based educator.
Skilled practitioners in art, music, creative writing, foreign languages, or other enrichment areas who have experience teaching children one-on-one.
Qualifications matter. But what we are really looking for is warmth, reliability, patience, and a genuine care for the children and families you work with. Those qualities cannot be faked and they make all the difference.
Applications are reviewed personally. If your background looks like a strong fit we will be in touch within a few business days to schedule a conversation.
